The VIII ACF will be held between October 8th and 10th, 2014 at the conference facilities of the Hyatt Regency, Port of Spain.
The Media Centre will provide ‘open’ working spaces with WiFi internet access for ACF accredited journalists to operate from October 7-10, 2014. The Media Centre will begin operations on the 7 October, between 9 am and 5 pm and for the days of the ACF, 8 to 10 October, between the hours of 7 am to 6 pm.
The Media Centre will be outfitted with:
- Broadcast distribution media feed,
- Monitoring of live broadcast in English and Spanish,
- Cable television,
- Picture server,
- Communique distribution,
- Printing facility via the business centre,
- Media management,
- coffee/tea/snack shop.
Journalists will have the option to apply for ‘Media Pool Access Passes’ at the Media Centre for various media pool activities as deemed by the VIII ACF. Additional information on Media Pools will be provided in a subsequent Bulletin.

The open working spaces will consist of tables, chairs, UPS, WiFi internet service, access to audio and video data including photographs from the conference.
A central storage system will be in place for the compilation of the photographs and the broadcast footage. Communiques from the conference will also be placed in the system.
Television sets will be located on stands at the end of every two rows of tables against the wall of the Media Centre. There will be two frequencies for broadcast, ‘CHANNEL 1’ and ‘CHANNEL 2’ – which will provide live and pre-recorded video feeds of conference activities in two languages – English and Spanish.
The print centre will have a reception counter and provide the following services. :
- Press release reproduction.
Media can request specific printing that can’t be done from the work spaces.
Audio from all live and recorded footage will be available in analogue format in the audio distribution area.
An Information Screen will be located near the refreshment area.
The Information Screen will carry cable television for international and local television stations and will display intermittently the conference schedules, media pool information, media briefing times and alerts of any new footage available on the ACF Workstations.
WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS
Wireless internet access will be available in throughout the Media Centre.
Digicel, a local telecommunications provider will be located at the conference facility to assist with mobile phones services.
The Media Centre management will be located within the facility to assist with any media centre related queries that the reception staff cannot assist with.
MASTER CONTROL ROOM
The Master Control Room is the centre of all routing and processing facilities in the Media Centre.
CHANNEL 1 and CHANNEL 2 are compiled from this area via the broadcast feed. All footage will be recorded here for archiving purposes.
MEDIA BRIEFING ROOM
The Media Briefing Room will be located at the Hyatt Regency conference facility and can seat 30 media person. Additional media can be accommodated in the standing area. All briefings will be translated into English and Spanish. These audio feeds will be available in the rear of the briefing room at the camera platform.
An interview room will be available at the Hyatt Regency conference facility for media to conduct one-on-one interviews. Internet access and power for lights are available in the room.

Media can use the Esplanade along the conference facility as Stand-Up Position.
